A Mount Fuji view: check where you will actually see it

A mountain view through the sauna window, followed by dinner together: that is the stay we offer at KODOU FUJI. Our four-bedroom villa in Fujiyoshida, Yamanashi sleeps up to twelve and is reserved for your group. Some can enjoy the private sauna while others relax in the living room, before everyone gathers around the same table. There is room for adults and children to enjoy the day at their own pace.

At KODOU FUJI, you can see Mount Fuji from the sauna and the upper floor. Our private villa is in Fujiyoshida, not on the shore of Lake Kawaguchiko. It suits guests looking for mountain views and a house to themselves rather than a lakeside location.

The view depends on the weather; the mountain will not always appear as it does in photographs. Choose a place you would enjoy even with clouds outside, whether that means a long family dinner or an afternoon on the sofa. The view can be a highlight without having to carry the whole holiday.

A private villa does not always mean a private sauna

A whole-house rental can still have a sauna shared with other properties. Check whether it is dedicated to your villa or booked in separate time slots, and whether the booking includes its use. The arrangement matters as much as the number of guests the house sleeps.

At KODOU FUJI, we provide a private sauna for the group staying in the house. Those who prefer not to use it can enjoy the cave-inspired living room or garden. With young children, adults can take turns and agree who is staying with them, so everyone has a chance to take a break.

Our barrel sauna seats four. Although the villa sleeps up to twelve, plan to take turns in groups of no more than four rather than all using the sauna together. Outside are a bath that can be used as a cold bath or hot tub and four reclining chairs. Pack swimwear and check the property’s operating instructions when you arrive.

  • With up to four adults using the sauna, you can form one group. No one needs to join in, and everyone can take breaks at their own pace.
  • For eight sauna users, plan two groups; for twelve, plan three. Separating the house capacity from the sauna capacity helps you plan what everyone else will do between turns.
  • With children, arrange for supervising adults to take turns too. Rather than trying to finish every sauna visit together, agree on a time to meet for dinner.

A sauna break for some, a shared evening for everyone

A family sauna break includes people who may prefer to skip the sauna altogether. We suggest choosing bedrooms on arrival, then leaving the time before dinner open. Adults can take turns between the sauna and spending time with children in the living room, so the break belongs to more than just the keen sauna users.

The garden barrel sauna and hot tub, and the cave-inspired living and dining room indoors, give the group different places to unwind. Come together afterwards over barbecue food cooked outside and served at the dining table. Follow the property’s guidance for sauna use. To leave dinner preparation to a private chef, contact us in advance with your dates and group size.

Planning a rainy day: meals and space indoors

When comparing sauna villas, picture a rainy evening as well as the sunny photographs. Is dining only outdoors? Where can people who skip the sauna relax? At KODOU FUJI, barbecue food is cooked in the garden and brought into the cave-inspired living and dining room, so the meal itself does not have to stay outdoors.

In rain, the grill can be moved to the covered garden area. If wind or rain makes outdoor cooking unsuitable, plan a meal in the kitchen instead. With a private chef arranged in advance, look forward to the menu agreed for your evening at the house. Decide on dinner with the forecast in mind rather than starting a restaurant search after arrival.

Leave room for the evening: a simple overnight plan

A packed sightseeing day can leave little time for the villa. On a sauna-focused break, choose one afternoon outing and keep the evening free. Our family guide covers lunch and sightseeing; this plan starts when you return to the house.

  1. Day 1 · Late afternoon

Settle in before making another plan

Choose bedrooms, put down your bags and settle into the living room. Enjoy the mountain if the weather allows, with adults taking turns in the sauna. Everyone can enjoy the same stay without having to do the same thing.

  2. Day 1 · Evening

Bring the garden barbecue to the cave-inspired dining room

Cook the barbecue outdoors in the garden and enjoy dinner in our cave-inspired living and dining space. A private chef is available when you would rather leave the cooking to someone else. Afterwards, move to the sofas; there is no journey home from a restaurant.

  3. Day 2 · Morning

    Make time for breakfast together

When you book the private chef, a simple breakfast is also provided for the following morning. Sit down together and talk about the day ahead. Without the chef service, arranging breakfast supplies the day before helps keep departure relaxed.

For a family stay, look beyond the sauna

For three generations or two families, look for both a place to gather and bedrooms that let each household rest. KODOU FUJI sleeps up to twelve across four bedrooms, with one king, two double and four single beds, plus two futon sets. Work out the room allocation as well as the headcount.

Plan the journey all the way to the house, not just to the nearest station or motorway exit. We provide free parking for two large vehicles or three small ones. Arriving by train? Arrange the transfer from Kotobuki Station and dinner before you arrive so the evening does not become a series of extra errands.

Before you book

Decide what matters most: mountain views, time in the sauna or an evening meal with everyone at the table. Then compare places against those priorities. To check KODOU FUJI dates and rates, follow the Airbnb link in the reservation section on our property page. Enter your dates and group size, then review payment and cancellation terms before booking.

For a barbecue you prepare yourselves, pick up ingredients, drinks and seasonings beyond salt and pepper before arriving. We provide the grill, tongs and skewers. For a private chef, enquire around three weeks ahead so we can confirm availability, the menu and price. Having dinner arranged leaves more of your time at the villa for the sauna and your family.

For a special lunch before arriving, consider Kokorogi, the Japanese restaurant at Highland Resort. If dinner at the villa is the main event, leave some space in the afternoon instead of planning a long list of stops.
